Gerlosplatte

The Jugendgästehaus Gerlosplatte is located at 1,700 m in the village of Hochkrimml, right in the Zillertal Arena hiking and ski area on the border between Salzburg and Tyrol, and in the Hohe Tauern National Park.

In winter, the ski area is right on your doorstep: from the heated ski room it is only approx. 250 m to the Duxeralmbahn and the Duxerlift. With sufficient snow, you can ski all the way back to the house – no ski bus, no waiting, just set off straight away.

In summer, the house is an ideal starting point for numerous activities. Hiking trails from a network of around 400 km begin close by, including the family-friendly Jodel hiking trail. The Krimmler Achental valley and the impressive Krimml Waterfalls (380 m high) are also quickly reached.

A ski rental shop, restaurants and leisure facilities are just a few minutes' walk away; the nearest supermarket is in Königsleiten, approx. 5 km away.

The house has 456 beds in 71 modern rooms. Besides double rooms, there are family rooms (double bed + bunk bed) as well as 6- and 8-bed rooms with bunk beds.

All rooms have a modern bathroom (shower/WC) and offer a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

The whole building is accessible (ramp staircase, lift), and three rooms with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms are also available.

The 8 dining rooms can be flexibly adjusted with partition walls to suit group sizes from 25 to 190 people. Wherever possible, each group gets its own dining room, which can also be used as a common room.

The sports hall (15 × 27 × 7 m) meets the DIN standard 18032 and can be used in many ways. Its equipment includes:

• 6 basketball hoops
• 2 handball goals
• Volleyball and badminton nets
• Wall bars and soft landing mats

The 115 m² indoor climbing wall (approx. 11 m high) has 3 top-rope lines and offers 6 routes of different difficulty levels, including an overhang and a chimney. There is also a bouldering wall in the house with various difficulty levels.

For relaxation, there are two modern panorama saunas with a large glass front and mountain views. After your sauna session, the roof terrace is perfect for cooling off before you unwind in the relaxation rooms.

A cosy fireplace lounge on the roof and numerous hammocks also provide a place to relax.

The fireplace lounge on the roof offers a fantastic view of the mountains. On the ground floor there is a cosy Stüberl – ideal for a refreshment after an active day.

The house offers a wide range of leisure activities:

With 147 kilometres of pistes (11 km black, 87 km red, 46 km blue), the Zillertal Arena is the largest ski area in the Zillertal. Thanks to altitudes of up to 2,500 m and modern snow-making, snow is guaranteed until Easter.

The youth guesthouse reopened in 2020 – modern, high-quality and thoughtfully equipped.

All facilities are free to use, with the exception of the kiosk and anything you order in the Stüberl and the fireplace lounge.
