Gerlosplatte

The Jugendgästehaus Gerlosplatte is located at 1,700 m in the village of Hochkrimml, right in the Zillertal Arena hiking and ski area on the border between Salzburg and Tyrol, and in the Hohe Tauern National Park.

In winter, the ski area is right on the doorstep: from the heated ski room it is only about 250 m to the Duxeralmbahn and the Duxerlift. With enough snow, you can ski all the way back to the house – no ski bus, no waiting, just head straight off.

In summer, the house is the ideal starting point for numerous activities. Close by, trails of a network of around 400 km of paths begin, including the family-friendly Jodel-Wanderweg. The Krimmler Achental valley and the impressive Krimml Waterfalls (380 m high) are also within easy reach.

A ski rental shop, restaurants and leisure facilities are just a few minutes' walk away; the nearest supermarket is in Königsleiten, about 5 km away.

The house has 456 beds in 71 modern rooms. In addition to double rooms, there are family rooms (double bed + bunk bed) as well as 6- and 8-bed rooms with bunk beds.

All rooms have a modern bathroom (shower/WC) and offer a lovely view of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

The entire building is barrier-free (ramp stairwell, lift), and three rooms with accessible bathrooms are also available.

The 8 dining rooms can be flexibly adapted with partition walls to group sizes of 25 to 190 people. Wherever possible, each group gets its own dining room, which can also be used as a common room.

The sports hall (15 × 27 × 7 m) meets DIN standard 18032 and can be used for many purposes. The equipment includes:

• 6 basketball hoops
• 2 handball goals
• Volleyball and badminton net
• Wall bars and crash mats

The 115 m² indoor climbing wall (approx. 11 m high) has 3 top ropes and offers 6 routes of different levels of difficulty, including an overhang and a groove. There is also a bouldering wall in the house, likewise with different levels of difficulty.

For relaxation, there are two modern panoramic saunas with a large glass front and mountain views. After the sauna, the roof terrace invites you to cool down before relaxing in the rest rooms.

A cosy fireside lounge on the roof and numerous hammocks also help you unwind.

The fireside lounge on the roof offers a fantastic view of the mountains. On the ground floor there is a cosy Stüberl – ideal for a refreshment after an active day.

The house offers an extensive range of leisure activities:

• Four in-ground trampolines (some with a foam pit)

With 147 kilometres of slopes (11 km black, 87 km red, 46 km blue), the Zillertal Arena is the largest ski area in the Zillertal. Thanks to altitudes of up to 2,500 m and modern snowmaking, snow is guaranteed until Easter.

The youth guesthouse reopened in 2020 – modern, high-quality and thoughtfully equipped.

Use of all facilities is free of charge; the only exceptions are the kiosk and drinks and snacks in the Stüberl and the fireside lounge.
