Welcome to an altitude of 1,700 metres, in the heart of the Zillertal Arena and on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park – where the newly opened Gerlosplatte youth guesthouse has served since 2020 as the perfect starting point for exciting school trips to the Alps. Located just around 180 kilometres south of Munich, this modern house combines sporting opportunities, alpine nature and well-thought-out facilities to create an ideal place for unforgettable school experiences.

A summer school trip to Gerlosplatte means: out of the classroom and into adventure! The alpine surroundings invite you to enjoy a wide range of activities – whether on varied hiking trails, mountain biking or exciting discovery tours around Hochkrimml. The fresh mountain air, shared experiences and mastering new challenges boost not only fitness and self-confidence, but also the social bond within the class. A mindful approach to the environment develops almost by itself.

 

Planned with a view – well-thought-out facilities & balanced meals

 

With 71 rooms and a total of 456 beds, the youth guesthouse offers generous space for entire year groups. The rooms – furnished with plenty of light-coloured solid wood – all have their own shower and WC. Students stay in 8-bed rooms, while single and double rooms are available for teachers, depending on availability. The bright dining rooms can be flexibly adapted to group sizes from 25 to 190 people and can also be used as common rooms. Particularly impressive: the wide view of the surrounding mountains – inspiration and relaxation included. You'll also be well fuelled: a delicious breakfast and two hot meals a day keep you full of energy. On day trips, a packed lunch to take away is available on request. And the best part: water and ski water are available free of charge all day – ideal for active hours in the fresh air.

The modern accommodation on Gerlosplatte leaves nothing to be desired: in addition to table tennis tables, table football, air hockey, billiards, hammocks and dartboards, there is also a fireside lounge, a Stüberl and sauna areas. But outside the house too, Gerlosplatte scores with a diverse range of leisure activities. Whether action-packed rafting, canyoning, a canoe trip on the Durlassboden reservoir or an energetic trampoline workshop – there is something for everyone. These programme items can be booked individually as add-ons and provide plenty of fun, team spirit and lasting memories.
